Ski transfer Zurich Airport → St. Anton am Arlberg for skiers
You land at Zurich Airport (ZRH) and want to travel with your skis, snowboard and the whole group straight to St. Anton am Arlberg – without changing from the airport onto a long-distance train at Zurich main station, without hauling luggage on the platform and without having to work around timetables. SWIVON collects you and your equipment at the terminal and takes you directly to your accommodation in St. Anton or to the valley station – as close as the local access road and your vehicle allow. For ski equipment we use spacious vehicles: Mercedes V-Class with trailer, Sprinter, Sprinter with trailer and coach.
Unlike an ordinary airport transfer, this journey is geared entirely towards winter sports: a trailer or luggage compartment for the complete equipment, winter tyres and snow chains when required – and no surcharge per ski or board bag.
Our vehicles for the ski transfer to St. Anton
Skis and snowboards do not belong in the boot of an E- or S-Class. For winter sports we therefore drive vehicles with genuine storage space – the equipment travels in the trailer or in the luggage compartment.
Mercedes V-Class with trailer – up to 7 people
For families and small groups of up to seven people. The V-Class comes with all-wheel drive (4MATIC) and winter tyres; skis, boards and luggage travel in the trailer – and the trailer is included in the price. That keeps the interior clear, so you sit in comfort the whole way.
Mercedes Sprinter – up to 20 people
The Mercedes Sprinter seats up to 20 passengers and is winter-ready with winter tyres – the first choice for families and ski groups travelling to the Arlberg together. With smaller groups the equipment travels in the luggage compartment; at full capacity we hitch up a trailer.
Sprinter with trailer – when the bus is fully occupied
If you travel at full capacity, we hitch up a trailer (surcharge CHF 150): that way all of your ski equipment stays securely and dryly stowed, while every seat inside remains free for your group.
Coach with trailer – for large groups, ski schools & clubs
For large groups we organise coaches (up to 30 / up to 50 people): the luggage travels in the underfloor compartment, and with plenty of equipment additionally in a trailer (surcharge CHF 150). If you would rather hire a coach with chauffeur yourself, we provide the right vehicle. For medium-sized groups, a Sprinter or minibus for up to 20 people is also suitable.
The equipment travels with you: For ski transfers we drive the V-Class with trailer, Sprinters, Sprinters with trailer and coaches. We do not use the E- or S-Class – there is simply no room there for skis and boards.
Ski luggage & equipment
Skis, snowboards, ski boots, helmets and suitcases travel with us – with no surcharge per pair and no discussion at the terminal. When you make your enquiry, simply tell us how many people are travelling with how many ski and board bags; we then choose the vehicle. If you prefer to hire your equipment locally in St. Anton, you will arrive with light luggage – we plan for that as well.
Groups, ski schools & clubs
Ski weeks, club outings and corporate ski days bring many people and even more equipment to the airport at the same time. We drive the group together, with several vehicles in convoy if required, so that everyone arrives in the valley at the same time. On request we plan the return journey at the same time.
Winter roads, snow chains & safety
For the journey from Switzerland we do not have to cross a pass: we drive through the Arlberg tunnel, which has been modernised and which, according to ASFINAG, is the only weather-independent link between Tirol and Vorarlberg. Around 14 kilometres of tunnel spare us the pass road over St. Christoph, which is exposed to weather and avalanches in winter – we use it at most as an alternative route, if the tunnel is closed at short notice and the pass road itself is passable. We check the situation before every journey and get in touch as soon as anything changes about the departure time. In winter our vehicles are fitted with winter tyres, and with snow chains when required. We cover the Austrian vignette and the tolls – both are included in the fixed price. The agreed price stays fixed – even with snow, traffic jams or diversions there is no winter surcharge.

Route & travel time from Zurich Airport
The distance is around 196 km, and the pure driving time in the Sprinter or coach is about 2 hours 55 minutes. A 15-minute driver break is added, so allow around 3 hours 10 minutes for the whole journey. The route runs via the A1 towards St. Gallen and on through the Rhine Valley, with the border crossing in the Vorarlberg Rhine Valley and then onto the A14 towards Bludenz; from there the S16 Arlberg expressway carries the traffic through the Arlberg tunnel into Tirol, exit St. Anton am Arlberg. During the peak season and at weekends we build in time buffers so that you arrive in the ski area without any rush.

We track your flight: if it is delayed, the chauffeur waits without you having to call. On request we welcome you with a name sign in the arrivals hall and help with the ski and board bags all the way to the vehicle. We serve early landings and late-night arrivals just the same.
The St. Anton am Arlberg ski area
St. Anton am Arlberg lies at 1,304 metres and is part of Ski Arlberg, the combined ski area made up of St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Lech, Oberlech, Zürs, Warth and Schröcken: together 300 kilometres of pistes, more than 200 kilometres of deep-snow runs and 85 lifts and cable cars between 1,304 and 2,811 metres. Skiing has a long tradition here: the ski club was founded in 1901, the first race was run in 1904 and the first ski school in the village opened in 1921. Anyone who wants to ski down from the Valluga II may, according to the operator, only go up accompanied by a trained guide – if you are planning that, book the guide in advance. The winter season runs from the beginning of December to the middle of April. On request we set you down as close as possible to the valley station of the Galzigbahn, the Nassereinbahn or the Rendlbahn. In the village we drive as close to your accommodation as the local access road and your vehicle allow; if there are access restrictions in the village centre, we agree the exact stopping point with you when you book.
Return journey: St. Anton am Arlberg → Zurich Airport
We handle the return journey too: we collect you at your accommodation in St. Anton – or at the nearest stopping point, if the access road or the size of the vehicle does not allow anything else – and bring you with all of your equipment to Zurich Airport. We set the pickup time together, based on your departure time; for early departures we set off correspondingly early and deliberately allow reserve time for winter roads.
