Ski transfer Zurich Airport → Kitzbühel for skiers
You land at Zurich Airport (ZRH) and want to travel with your skis, snowboard and the whole group straight to Kitzbühel – without changing trains several times with a ski bag and a suitcase, without hauling luggage on the platform and without having to work around timetables. SWIVON collects you and your equipment at the terminal and takes you directly to your accommodation in Kitzbühel or to the valley station – as close as the local access road and your vehicle allow. For ski equipment we use spacious vehicles: Mercedes V-Class with trailer, Sprinter, Sprinter with trailer and coach.
Unlike an ordinary airport transfer, this journey is geared entirely towards winter sports: a trailer or luggage compartment for the complete equipment, winter tyres and snow chains when required – and no surcharge per ski or board bag.
Our vehicles for the ski transfer to Kitzbühel
Skis and snowboards do not belong in the boot of an E- or S-Class. For winter sports we therefore drive vehicles with genuine storage space – the equipment travels in the trailer or in the luggage compartment.
Mercedes V-Class with trailer – up to 7 people
For families and small groups of up to seven people. The V-Class comes with all-wheel drive (4MATIC) and winter tyres; skis, boards and luggage travel in the trailer – and the trailer is included in the price. That keeps the interior clear, so you sit in comfort the whole way.
Mercedes Sprinter – up to 20 people
The Mercedes Sprinter seats up to 20 passengers and is winter-ready with winter tyres – the first choice for families and ski groups travelling to Tirol together. With smaller groups the equipment travels in the luggage compartment; at full capacity we hitch up a trailer.
Sprinter with trailer – when the bus is fully occupied
If you travel at full capacity, we hitch up a trailer (surcharge CHF 150): that way all of your ski equipment stays securely stowed and dry, while every seat inside remains free for your group.
Coach with trailer – for large groups, ski schools & clubs
For large groups we organise coaches (up to 30 / up to 50 people): the luggage travels in the underfloor compartment, and with plenty of equipment additionally in a trailer (surcharge CHF 150). If you would rather hire a coach with chauffeur yourself, we provide the right vehicle. For medium-sized groups, a Sprinter or minibus for up to 20 people is also suitable.
The equipment travels with you: For ski transfers we drive the V-Class with trailer, Sprinter, Sprinter with trailer and coaches. We do not use the E- or S-Class – there is simply no room there for skis and boards.
Ski luggage & equipment
Skis, snowboards, ski boots, helmets and suitcases travel with us – with no surcharge per pair and no discussion at the terminal. When you make your enquiry, simply tell us how many people are travelling with how many ski and board bags; we then choose the vehicle. If you prefer to hire your equipment locally in Kitzbühel, you will arrive with light luggage – we plan for that as well.
Groups, ski schools & clubs
Ski clubs, ski schools, company outings and large chalet parties are in good hands with us. From the Sprinter for the family to the coach for up to 50 people, your group stays together, the luggage travels in the same convoy and you arrive at the ski region as one. Just tell us the number of people, the equipment, the date and the pick-up points – and we plan your ski transfer.
Winter roads, snow chains & safety
There is no pass road to drive from Zurich to Kitzbühel – the Arlberg tunnel runs beneath the Arlberg into Tirol. If the Arlberg tunnel is closed at short notice, we take a wide detour; that costs time, and we agree the departure time with you beforehand. In winter our vehicles are fitted with winter tyres, and with snow chains when required. We cover the Austrian vignette and the tolls – both are included in the fixed price. The agreed price stays fixed – even with snow, traffic jams or diversions there is no winter surcharge.

Route & travel time from Zurich Airport
The distance is around 380 km, and the pure driving time in the Sprinter or coach is about 5 hours 40 minutes. Two driver breaks of 15 and 30 minutes are added, so allow around 6 hours 25 minutes for the whole journey. The route runs via the A1 towards St. Gallen and through the Rhine Valley, with the border crossing into Vorarlberg, on along the A14 towards Bludenz and via the S16 through the Arlberg tunnel into Tirol; from the Inn Valley it continues via St. Johann in Tirol across to Kitzbühel. From the border crossing onwards the planned route runs entirely through Austria – there is no need to transit Germany. During the peak season and at weekends we build in time buffers so that you arrive in the ski area without any rush.

The KitzSki ski area around Kitzbühel
Kitzbühel is a town of more than 8,500 inhabitants at 800 metres; the name first appears in 1165 as “Chizbuhel”. According to Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel, the KitzSki ski area – Kitzbühel, Kirchberg, Jochberg, Pass Thurn and Mittersill – comprises 233 kilometres of pistes, 58 lifts and cable cars and 1,260 snow guns. The highest point that can be reached by cable car is the summit of the Kitzbüheler Horn at 2,000 metres. The town is famous for the Streif on the Hahnenkamm, according to the operator “the most famous downhill course in the world”: 3,315 metres long, from the start at 1,665 metres down to the finish at 805 metres.
The valley stations of the Hahnenkammbahn and the Hornbahn are in Kitzbühel itself. In the V-Class we set you down directly at the valley station on request. According to the operator there is no access to the Hahnenkammbahn car park for buses in winter – so if you are arriving in the Sprinter or the coach, we agree the stopping point with you in advance. For accommodation in the centre we drive as close as the local access road and your vehicle allow; short-stay parking zones apply in the town centre, and we agree the spot for unloading and loading on site.
The winter season usually runs from the middle of December to the end of March, with individual sectors opening as early as the end of November.
Return journey: Kitzbühel → Zurich Airport
We handle the return journey too: we collect you at your accommodation in Kitzbühel – or at the nearest stopping point, if the access road or the size of the vehicle does not allow anything else – and bring you with all of your equipment to Zurich Airport. We set the pickup time together, based on your departure time; over this distance we deliberately set off early and allow additional reserve time for winter roads.
