Can we bring skis and snowboards to Zermatt?

Yes, of course. We carry skis, snowboards, boots, helmets and poles free of charge. For the equipment we use a Mercedes V-Class with trailer, Sprinter, Sprinter with trailer or coach – never a limousine. Tell us when you enquire how many pairs of skis or boards you have with you, and we will choose the right vehicle.

How many people fit in the Sprinter, and where does the equipment go?

The Mercedes Sprinter holds up to 20 people. With the vehicle fully occupied, the complete ski equipment no longer fits in the luggage compartment as well – for that we hitch up a trailer (surcharge CHF 150), so that every seat inside stays free. For larger groups we organise coaches for up to 30 or up to 50 people, with a trailer if required.

Are the vehicles winter-ready (winter tyres, snow chains)?

Yes. Our vehicles run on winter tyres, with snow chains if required. Since the high passes (Furka, Grimsel, Susten) are closed in winter, we approach via Bern and the Rhône Valley through Valais. Our chauffeurs know this route and the wintry weather conditions, so that you arrive safely and on time.

Is the ski transport included in the price?

Yes, the transport of skis and snowboards is included in the price – at no extra charge. The agreed fixed price stays unchanged even with snow, traffic jams or diversions; there is no winter surcharge. You receive the binding price for your group on request.

Do you drive all the way into the village of Zermatt?

Zermatt is car-free, so we drive with the Sprinter or coach as far as the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, five kilometres before the village. There we unload your skis and your luggage; you continue into the village with the Zermatt-Shuttle (around twelve minutes) or an electric local taxi, which we arrange in advance on request. We ourselves do not drive into car-free Zermatt.

Do you also pick up large groups and ski schools?

Yes. Ski clubs, ski schools, clubs and company groups are in good hands with us. From the Sprinter to the coach for up to 50 people, your group stays together, the equipment travels along, and you arrive as one at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch. Ski transfer Zurich Airport → Zermatt (Matterhorn Terminal Täsch) for skiers

You land at Zurich Airport (ZRH) and want to head straight to the Zermatt ski area at the Matterhorn with your skis, snowboard and the whole group – with no changing trains in Visp, no dragging luggage along the platform and no connecting train. SWIVON picks you up together with your equipment at the terminal and takes you door to door all the way to the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, the car-free gateway to Zermatt. For ski equipment we use spacious vehicles: Mercedes V-Class with trailer, Sprinter, Sprinter with trailer and coach.

Our vehicles for the ski transfer to Zermatt

Skis and snowboards do not belong in the boot of an E- or S-Class. For winter sports we therefore drive vehicles with genuine storage space – the equipment travels in the trailer or the luggage compartment.

Mercedes V-Class with trailer – up to 7 people

For families and small groups of up to seven people. The V-Class comes with all-wheel drive (4MATIC) and winter tyres; skis, boards and luggage travel in the trailer – and the trailer is included in the price. That keeps the interior clear, so you sit in comfort the whole way.

Mercedes Sprinter – up to 20 people

The Mercedes Sprinter seats up to 20 passengers and is winter-ready with winter tyres – the first choice for families and smaller ski groups heading into Valais to the Matterhorn. With smaller groups the equipment travels in the luggage compartment; at full capacity we hitch up a trailer.

Sprinter with trailer – when the bus is fully occupied

If you are travelling at full capacity, we hitch on a trailer: that way all the ski equipment stays safely and dryly stowed, while every seat inside remains free for your group.

Coach with trailer – for large groups, ski schools & clubs

For large groups we organise coaches (up to 30 / up to 50 people): the luggage travels in the underfloor compartment, and with a lot of equipment additionally in the trailer. If you would rather Hire a coach with a chauffeur Yourself, we provide the right vehicle. For medium-sized groups a Sprinter or minibus for up to 20 people Is also suitable.

The equipment travels with you: For ski transfers we drive the V-Class with trailer, Sprinters, Sprinters with trailer and coaches. We do not use the E- or S-Class – there is simply no room for skis and boards.

Ski luggage & equipment

We carry skis, snowboards, boots, helmets and poles free of charge. When you enquire, simply tell us how many pairs of skis or boards you are bringing and whether you have any bulky equipment with you – then we choose a Sprinter, Sprinter with trailer or coach so that everything is safely stowed. We are of course happy to help with loading at the terminal.

Groups, ski schools & clubs

Ski clubs, ski schools, company outings and large chalet parties are in good hands with us. From the Sprinter for the family to the coach for up to 50 people, your group stays together, the luggage travels in the same convoy, and you arrive as one at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch. Route & travel time from Zurich Airport

The distance to Täsch is around 350 km, and the pure travel time is about 5 hours 15 minutes. This applies to the Sprinter and the coach. Two driver breaks of 15 and 30 minutes are added, so allow around 6 hours for the whole journey. Since the high passes (Furka, Grimsel, Susten) are closed in winter, the route runs via the A1 towards Bern, on through Fribourg and along Lake Geneva past Vevey and Montreux, and then up the Rhône Valley through Valais (A9) via Martigny, Sion and Sierre to Visp, from there up the Matter Valley to the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch. During the high season and at weekends we build in a time buffer so that you reach the slopes on schedule.

The Zermatt ski area

Zermatt at the Matterhorn is one of the largest and highest ski areas in the Alps: together with the Italian side (Breuil-Cervinia/Valtournenche), the Matterhorn Ski Paradise opens up around 360 kilometres of pistes with about 51 lifts for skiing and snowboarding. The highest station, the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise on the Klein Matterhorn, sits at 3,883 metres – the highest mountain railway point in Europe. The Theodul Glacier offers year-round skiing; the main season in the valley lasts roughly from late November to early May. As Zermatt is car-free, we take you to the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch, five kilometres before the village; from there you continue with the Zermatt-Shuttle (around twelve minutes) or an electric local taxi into the village, which we arrange in advance on request.

Return journey: Zermatt → Zurich Airport

We are also your partner for the return trip. We pick you up together with your equipment at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch as soon as you have arrived by shuttle from car-free Zermatt, and bring you to Zurich Airport (ZRH) in good time. The return journey is made with the same spacious type of vehicle – Sprinter, Sprinter with trailer or coach – and along the same winter route through the Rhône Valley with a time buffer, so that you catch your flight in a relaxed manner.
